Social environmental filter

Socially, the Marika-Alderton House is a filter, due to the development of traditional aboriginal housing, the house stands out within the community. The communal lifestyle of the indigenous population allows the openness to not compromise privacy for the client. The remote location and context of the community allows for a natural social filter. (Cooper et al, 2002)

The image demonstrates, how the house achieves privacy in the private section (right) through slatted timber, whilst still allowing ventilation.
